I believe art is not a handicraft ,it's the transmission of feeling that the artist has experienced, it's not just something you buy — it is something you bring into your life to create a happier, more meaningful space. I am Lakshmi P. Menon, a New Delhi–based self-taught artist with a postgraduate background in Sociology. My academic journey into understanding human behaviour and emotion deeply influences my artistic practice. Through acrylics and mixed media, I explore the emotional depth of human experience — translating feelings, memories, and inner transformations into visual form. My creative process is intuitive ,I allow colours, textures, and forms to express what words often cannot. My work reflects the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength, chaos and calm, pain and peace — the dualities that define the human spirit. Life experiences, everyday moments, and the stories I read often inspire my paintings. I am drawn to abstract art because it allows freedom — freedom to interpret, to feel, and to connect. I use bright colours, varied tones, and rich textures to create depth and movement within each canvas. Every piece carries an emotion — an energy that invites viewers to discover their own meaning within it. I work primarily with acrylics and incorporate diverse techniques such as acrylic pouring, splatter and swipe methods, palette knife textures, wet-on-wet layering, crackle and textured pastes, leaf printing, charcoal, crayons, and fine detailing. Each artwork evolves through layers — thoughtfully built to create mood, movement, and meaning. Through my art, I seek to create a meditative connection between the viewer and the canvas. I want my work to be experienced not just as an image, but as a feeling — a space for reflection, connection, and healing. Each painting I create matters. It carries a part of my journey and has the potential to add emotional value and presence to the space it enters.
