Description:

 This oil on canvas portrait depicts Bishop Alvise Grimani of Venice, painted by Strozzi during his later career in the city. The Bishop is shown half-length, holding a book, and is dressed in elaborate ecclesiastical attire, featuring a rich brown cape trimmed with red buttons and highly detailed, lacy cuffs and vestments. The work is an excellent example of Strozzi's style, which combined Genoese influences with the color and light of the Venetian school.
