A dynamic and dramatic watercolor and ink drawing by the famed satirist George Cruikshank (1792–1878). Titled "Crinolina—and the Consequences," this allegorical work vividly criticizes the dangerous fashion trend of the crinoline (hoop skirt). It features a terrifying figure, perhaps Death or Destruction, riding a pale horse and menacing figures below, who are tangled in their own enormous skirts.
