The artwork is executed in brush and gray wash with watercolor, heightened with white, over graphite on laid paper. It is a study for a large Baroque ceiling fresco cycle, depicting various scenes and episodes from the life of Saint Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit order.
