This detailed 18th-century painting captures the heart of Venice before the architectural changes of the Napoleonic era. The right side of the composition is dominated by the majestic, ornate facade of the Church of San Geminiano, designed by Jacopo Sansovino (demolished in 1807 to make way for the Napoleonic Wing).
