This tempera on wood panel depicts a famous legend of Saint Nicholas. In an effort to save three poor sisters from a life of destitution, the Saint secretly tosses bags of gold through their window at night. The painting is notable for its intricate depiction of 15th-century Italian architecture, featuring pointed Gothic arches and a warm, terracotta-colored facade.
