Description:

The painting, an oil on canvas created circa 1916 by Canadian-American artist Ernest Lawson, captures a serene, snowy winter scene along the banks of the Harlem River. Lawson used a bold, textured approach with thick applications of paint (impasto) and fluid brushstrokes to evoke the luminous quality of winter light.
