Description:

Created by artist Samuel Jordan in 1831, this oil painting is a commemorative memorial for members of the Eaton family. It features a woman in black, presumably a mourner, standing next to a large white monument inscribed with the names and death dates of family members. The scene is set in an idyllic, stylized landscape with lush trees, a small village with a church in the background, and a white horse and buggy.
