Description:

An oil painting depicting a river or estuary scene under a dramatic, cloudy sky. In the foreground, two men work together to haul in a fishing net on the riverbank. Various other figures, including a gentleman watching and milkmaids, are present nearby. A boat is docked nearby, and a expansive view of a fortified city skyline, identified as the Dutch city of Zwolle with its prominent church spires and a distant windmill, is visible in the background. The painting is dated to 1663.
