Description:

Painted during his stay in the remote coastal hamlet of Le Pouldu in Brittany, Landscape at Le Pouldu (1890) exemplifies Paul Gauguin's radical transition toward Symbolism and Cloisonnism. Seeking an escape from the increasingly tourist-heavy village of Pont-Aven, Gauguin found an uncorrupted, simpler rural charm along the windswept Breton coast.
