Description:

This oil on canvas painting, dated circa 1821-1854, captures a picturesque and idyllic view of the ruined Easby Abbey beside the River Swale in North Yorkshire, England. The scene is viewed from a distance, framed by lush, detailed foreground foliage and trees. In the middle ground sit the well-preserved ruins of the Premonstratensian monastery and the nearby St. Agatha's Church, while the town of Richmond is visible on the hills in the distance.
