Description:

This oil on canvas painting, created by Aelbert Cuyp between 1655 and 1660, is considered one of his masterpieces. It depicts a broad, panoramic river valley bathed in the golden light of the late afternoon or sunset. In the foreground, two elegantly dressed horsemen have paused to interact with local herdsmen tending to cattle and sheep.
