Description:
This dramatic, museum-quality oil painting vividly captures a defining moment from Virgil’s epic poem, the Aeneid. The composition is alive with tension and movement as the Trojan hero Aeneas escapes the fiery destruction of Troy. Demonstrating exceptional physical and emotional strength, Aeneas carries his elderly, fragile father, Anchises, on his shoulders, while his young son, Ascanius, hurries beside them, covering his ears to block out the chaotic din of the falling city.
