Description:
The painting is an oil on panel work. It depicts the Virgin Mary, shown from the waist up, holding the nude infant Jesus. Mary wears a dark blue robe with a narrow gold border and looks down at the child with a serene expression. The infant is held on a white cloth and is looking toward the viewer's left. The background is a dark brown, which makes the figures stand out.
