A spirited, early 19th-century drawing titled "Cavalry Skirmish". This piece, characteristic of the style of Thomas Rowlandson, depicts a close-quarters military clash between two mounted soldiers. The figures are rendered with vigorous, expressive lines and highlighted with watercolor. One soldier, wearing a military shako, is lunging with a sword at an opponent, whose horse rears dramatically.
