Description:
This tempera on panel painting depicts a central tenet of medieval Christian legend: the moment after the Virgin Mary's assumption into heaven, when she is crowned Queen of Heaven by Christ. Both figures are seated on an elaborate throne under a Gothic arch, adorned with gold leaf details and rich robes defined by gilded striations.
