This fresco, dated between 1520 and 1522, is part of a series illustrating the classical myth of Cephalus. The scene depicts Cephalus as a young hunter in a wooded landscape, pointing towards two figures, likely nymphs, lying on the ground. In the myth, Cephalus accidentally kills his wife Procris with a magic spear after being misled by the goddess Aurora into believing she was one of the nymphs.
