This oil on panel painting depicts the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child with a bunch of grapes and an apple on a table. The Virgin, seated against a dark background, is richly dressed in draped robes and gently supports the standing child who is eating the grapes. The symbols of the grapes and apple allude to Christ as the "new Adam" and the redemption from original sin. The work is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C..
