Painted in 1658, this oil-on-canvas work depicts the giant Orion, who has been blinded and is wading through a lush, wooded landscape toward the east. He carries the guide Cedalion on his shoulders to direct him toward the rising sun, whose rays are believed to be able to restore his sight.
