This dramatic 18th-century painting, attributed to the Italian master Corrado Giaquinto, depicts the tense aftermath of the biblical story of Judith. Set within the shadowed, golden-hued interior of an Assyrian tent, Judith is shown standing heroically with her maidservant after having beheaded the general Holofernes.
