Description:
This oil-on-panel work depicts the Crucifixion of Christ set against a vast, serene landscape typical of Perugino's style, featuring mountains and hills in deep perspective. To the left of the cross, Saint Jerome is shown kneeling in penance, having cast aside his cardinal's hat as a symbol of rejecting earthly honors.
