This small panel painting presents a rich, complex allegory in a landscape setting. A seated, elegantly dressed woman (representing Chastity) is showered with flowers by a flying putto (cherub) from above. This serene scene is juxtaposed with two satyrs—mythological creatures associated with wildness and lust. A female satyr, partially hidden behind a tree on the left, peeks out at the central figure.
