Description:

This Renaissance painting depicts the biblical scene of the Annunciation. The Archangel Gabriel is shown kneeling on the left, facing the Virgin Mary on the right. Gabriel has golden wings and wears an elaborate gold and brown patterned robe. His hands are crossed over his chest in a gesture of reverence, and he looks towards Mary with a serene expression. The Virgin Mary is seated on a simple wooden chair, holding a book in her left hand and gesturing with her right hand towards her chest, signifying her acceptance. She wears a dark blue mantle over a red garment and has a golden halo. She looks down with humility.
