Description:

The painting portrays a devout scene centered around a crucified Christ. Jesus, wearing a crown of thorns and a white loincloth, is nailed to a wooden cross with an "INRI" placard above his head. His body is rendered with anatomical detail. Below the cross, a group of figures are gathered in devotion. On the left, a woman in a white veil and dark cloak (likely the Virgin Mary) stands with clasped hands, gazing up at Christ. Next to her, another woman (possibly Mary Magdalene) kneels, her head bowed in sorrow, dressed in a reddish-brown garment. To the far left, a woman in a rich red dress with gold accents and a head covering kneels, looking up intently, with a large wooden wheel or structure beside her.
