Description:

This grand ceiling fresco depicts a chaotic and dramatic scene from mythology, "The Fall of the Giants." A multitude of figures fills the swirling clouds and sky. In the lower central area, powerful, muscular giants, appearing to be male, are being struck down by divine figures. One prominent giant is being overcome by a figure in golden armor with large wings, possibly an angel or a deity, who is wielding a thunderbolt. Another giant lies defeated, entangled with a serpent-like creature. Above, numerous celestial beings, both male and female, float amidst the clouds. Some are playing musical instruments like tambourines and lyres, while others shower flowers down upon the fallen giants.
