This Baroque masterpiece depicts the biblical scene of Tobias healing his blind father Tobit. In the painting, the elderly Tobit sits centrally while his son Tobias applies fish gall to his eyes—a remedy provided by the Archangel Raphael. Three figures surround Tobit: his son Tobias, an angel with wings (Raphael), and an elderly woman (likely Anna, Tobit's wife). The composition exhibits dramatic lighting and expressive faces characteristic of Baroque art. Strozzi employs a rich palette of ochres, deep reds, and olive greens against a neutral background, creating a moment of divine intervention and familial devotion. A small dog, symbolic of faithfulness, can be seen in the lower left corner, adding a narrative detail from the biblical account.
