Description:

This devotional painting depicts the Virgin Mary seated and holding the Christ Child. Mary is shown with a gentle and serene expression, looking down at the infant Jesus. She has light brown hair partially covered by a sheer veil and wears a red garment with a dark blue mantle. Her hands tenderly support the child. The infant Jesus is seated on a white cloth draped over what appears to be a wooden surface. He is depicted nude, with fair skin and curly blond hair. His left hand rests on a dark, spherical object, possibly representing the world. With his right hand raised in a gesture that could be a blessing or speech, he looks out towards the viewer.
