Description:

This altarpiece depicts the Virgin Mary seated on a high, ornate throne, cradling the Christ Child who reaches out towards Saint Peter. Mary wears a blue mantle over a pinkish-red gown and a white veil, her gaze directed downwards with a gentle expression. The Christ Child is nude and holds a flower or object in his hand. Four saints are arranged around the throne. To the left, Saint Peter, with his characteristic white beard and bald head, holds a set of keys and a white lily. Kneeling before him is Saint Dominic, dressed in a black and white habit, holding an open book. To the right, Saint John the Baptist, with his long brown hair and camel-hair tunic, points towards the Virgin and Child while holding a long staff with a cross. Kneeling opposite Saint Dominic is Saint Nicholas of Bari, dressed in a green and red bishop's robes and holding three golden balls, his attribute.
