Description:

This oil on canvas painting by Luca Giordano, known as Fa Presto, depicts the biblical scene of "The Adoration of the Magi." In the center, the Virgin Mary, dressed in a red and blue garment, cradles the infant Christ, who reaches out towards one of the kneeling Magi. This elderly Magus, clad in a white robe, kneels in reverence, offering a gift. Behind him, another Magus, possibly of African descent, presents his gift, and a third figure stands nearby. Cherubic putti hover in the clouds above. The composition is dynamic, characteristic of the Baroque style, with dramatic lighting and expressive figures.
