Description:

This magnificent ceiling fresco depicts the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, as she leads the chariot of the sun god Apollo across the sky. Aurora, a youthful and radiant figure in flowing robes, scatters flowers as she moves forward, her gaze directed towards the light. Apollo follows closely behind in his golden chariot, drawn by powerful, spirited horses that seem to burst forth from the clouds. Surrounding them are cherubs and the figures of the Hours, personifying the passage of time. To the left, a winged figure, possibly representing the fading night, flees before the advancing dawn. The fresco is characterized by its dynamic composition, vibrant colors, and the graceful, idealized figures typical of the Bolognese School of painting during the Baroque period. The illusionistic perspective makes it appear as though the scene is unfolding above the viewer.
