Description:

This tempera on panel painting, created around 1450, depicts the biblical scene of "The Adoration of the Magi." In the foreground, the Virgin Mary, adorned in blue, sits holding the infant Christ, who reaches out towards an elderly Magus kneeling in reverence, offering a golden vessel. Two other Magi stand nearby, richly dressed, with one appearing to be a younger king. To the left, a retinue of figures, including men on horseback, observe the scene. The Holy Family is sheltered in a cave-like stable, with an ox and a donkey visible behind them. The background features a detailed landscape with rolling hills, scattered trees, and distant structures, characteristic of early Renaissance Italian painting with its attention to narrative and detail. The use of tempera gives the painting a distinct clarity and vibrant color.
