Description:

The painting features Saint Justina of Padua as the central figure, standing elegantly in a richly colored gown of pink and gold, draped with a dark green and gold patterned fabric. She holds a martyr's palm in her left hand and gently touches the horn of a white unicorn that kneels beside her on the left. To the right, a man, presumably the donor, kneels in prayerful devotion. He is dressed in dark, possibly black, clothing with a white ruffled collar and a black cap. His gaze is directed upwards towards Saint Justina. The setting is a serene landscape with rolling hills, distant mountains, and a few scattered buildings under a soft, overcast sky. A tree with dark foliage frames the upper part of the composition. The presence of the unicorn is symbolic of purity and is often associated with virgin saints. The overall atmosphere is one of piety and reverence, characteristic of Lotto's emotionally expressive and symbolically rich style.
