Description:

The painting illustrates the biblical encounter between Jesus Christ and the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well, as recounted in the Gospel of John. Jesus is depicted seated by the well, appearing weary and engaging in conversation with the woman. The woman, who has come to draw water, is shown holding a large copper or earthenware pitcher. She is looking at Jesus with an expression that suggests curiosity or perhaps surprise at his request for water and the subsequent spiritual dialogue. The setting includes a stone well, and in the background, a landscape with architectural elements, possibly representing the city. The clothing of the figures suggests a historical context, with Jesus in traditional robes and the woman in attire typical of the period. The interaction between the two figures is the central focus, highlighting the moment of their significant theological discussion.
